Felicitation Ceremony in Honor of Ar. Bayejid Mahbub Khondker for winning RIBA International Prize 2026

The Department of Architecture of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a Felicitation Ceremony on  October 27, 2026, at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Annex 7, to congratulate Architect Bayejid Mahbub Khondker, Adjunct Faculty of the Department of Architecture, AIUB, and Principal Architect and Founder of Nakshabid Architects, winning  the RIBA International Prize 2026. The event was attended by university officials, faculty members, and students of the Department of Architecture.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Head of the Architecture Department, M. Arefeen Ibrahim who welcomed the distinguished guests, faculty members, and students. He highlighted the importance of recognizing professional achievements in architecture and encouraged students to learn from the experiences of accomplished architects.

Following the welcome address, Architect Bayejid Mahbub Khondker delivered a brief presentation on the winning project, his professional practice and design approach. His presentation offered students and faculty members insights into contemporary architectural practice and the processes involved in developing architectural projects.

Professor Dr. ABM Siddique Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of academic excellence and professional development. Professor Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, also addressed the audience, encouraging students to connect their academic knowledge with professional practice. The formal session concluded with an address by Honourable Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Saiful Islam, who congratulated Architect Bayejid Mahbub Khondker on his achievement and encouraged students to pursue excellence through dedication and innovation.

As part of the ceremony, AIUB presented Architect Bayejid Mahbub Khondker with a commemorative crest, flowers, and a gift in recognition of his achievement. The presentation marked the university’s appreciation of his professional accomplishment.

The program was hosted by Tabassum Zarin Tithi, Assistant Professor, Department of Architecture, and coordinated by Md. Rashed Hasan, Lecturer, Department of Architecture. Niaz Morshed, Lecturer, Department of Architecture, was also involved in organizing the event.

The ceremony celebrated Architect Bayejid Mahbub Khondker’s achievement and provided an opportunity for students and faculty members to engage with professional architectural practice. The event reflected the Department of Architecture’s commitment to connecting academic learning with professional experience and inspiring students to pursue excellence in their future careers.
